This dictionary has been compiled according to themes. The sketches immediately tell the learner what the word means. Learners can thus look up independently, which in turn greatly reduces time and eliminates frustration. However the educator will have to help with the pronunciation. The dictionary is therefore designed to encourage shared reading. Where words read from left to right it is easy to read in a group, but at sketches words are not in lines, these words are numbered to facilitate shared reading.
At the back of the book, words are grouped according to parts of speech. For example, the learner searches for a pronoun, verb, etc and builds a sentence. Words are translated from Afrikaans to English.
The Afrikaans words can also be used for Afrikaans home language.
