Kommunikatiewe Program Gr1, Gr2 of Gr3

The programme was designed by me, Marieta Brand(Pistor). I wanted to design something to help teachers and learners to communicate in Afrikaans, therefore the focus is on listening and speaking.  The programme uses eight posters per grade, two per term, each representing two or more themes, the learning becomes easier because of the posters being visual aids.

Here are the guidelines how to present the programme to the learners.

  1. Teacher puts the poster up on the board.
  2. Right through the programme the teacher  speak first, the learners listen and answer the questions in Afrikaans.                  for example:
    1. Teacher puts up the poster with the bathroom theme.
    2. Teacher says: Mamma en die dogters is in die badkamer.
    3. Teacher asks: Wie is in die badkamer?
    4. Learners answer: Mamma en die dogters is in die badkamer.

NB: If learners don't grasp the Afrikaans the first time, the teacher should repeat it and the learners should try until they get it. The more they HEAR, the better they will understand and SPEAK Afrikaans.

Teacher's note: To re-inforce the vocabulary, children can come up to the poster and point at an object. All questions need to be asked in Afrikaans. Now individual learners can also answer, e.g. Wie kan vir my die tandeborsel wys?
